What happens in classrooms does not stay in classrooms. It shapes how students see history, identity, and each other.

In DeKalb, IL, we worked with educators on teaching slavery and other culturally complex topics with more confidence, clarity, and care using our framework: Context, Culture, and Comfort.

When teachers are better prepared, classrooms become stronger, student engagement improves, and difficult conversations become more meaningful.

DISRUPTING THE NEW SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE

We were never created to live inside a box. Yet somehow, a box has been built for us — and too many of our children are being shaped to fit inside it.

This is a necessary conversation for every parent with a child in the public school system, and for anyone ready to challenge what has been accepted, normalized, and left unchecked for far too long.

On May 4, 2026, from 7:00–9:00 PM at Le Buen Eshe in Hazel Crest, IL, we are coming together to expose and disrupt the “new” school-to-prison pipeline. This is a necessary conversation for every parent with a child in the public school system, and for anyone ready to challenge what has been accepted, normalized, and left unchecked for far too long.

When learning is confined to the four walls of an institution called school, our children’s quality of life suffers. There is a real difference between school and education — and knowing that difference can drastically change the course of your child’s life, unlock their full potential, and help place them on a path toward purpose, power, and generational wealth.

Mr. Cage, “The Trainer,” a Training and Development Specialist with 18+ years of experience who has worked with 10,000+ K–12 students, will be speaking from lived experience and helping attendees see the system with greater clarity, understanding and truth.

Today we had the opportunity to work with nearly 200 educators from Huntley Middle School and DeKalb CUSD 428.

Mr. Crim led two sessions: How Black History Can Save Your Classroom: Teaching Cultural Content with Sensitivity and Stop Being So Sensitive: Culturally Responsive Teaching in Action.

Through the lens of How Black History Can Save Your Life and Scenario-Based Learning (SBL), we explored practical ways educators can facilitate culturally responsive conversations, connect history to student identity, and strengthen engagement in the classroom.

We completed two 1-hour presentations and a 90-minute facilitation session with thoughtful discussion and reflection throughout.

Thank you Dr. Treveda Shah, Huntley Middle School, and DeKalb CUSD 428 for the opportunity to work with your educators.

Thank you to the Naperville 203 UNIDOS Affinity Network for the opportunity to present and engage in meaningful conversation.

We truly appreciate the space you create for dialogue, reflection, and community building. It was an honor to share and connect with such a thoughtful group committed to supporting students and strengthening our communities.

We love the work UNIDOS is doing to bridge people and communities in ways that help build a healthier nation.

Thank you again for the invitation and for the important work you continue to lead.

 Mr. Cage, “The Trainer”

We would like express our gratitude to Julia Alexander and Including You, Inc. for choosing Mr. Cage to be their keynote speaker.

Last night’s message was titled, “Freely We Received, Freely We Give.

The core message emphasized that our words and actions are defined not just by what we say but by how we live our lives. We are called to empower others by granting them authority, to inspire by filling hearts and minds with grace, and to educate by nurturing and unfolding the potential within each individual.

The essence of giving back translates to “paying it forward,” embodying the belief that we get to give without expecting anything in return. We are sent to serve and uplift those around us, fulfilling our mission with the understanding that “freely we have received, freely we give.”

The mission of Including You, Inc.—to Empower, Inspire, and Educate—serves as a foundation for enhancing the self-esteem of our spirited Joliet community.
