Q-Tips!!!

Q-Tips…

Whether my ears are clean or dirty, if there are Q-Tips around..

I am going to use them.

Why?

Because this is a habit that I picked up from my mom.

It’s not a bad habit, but it is a HABIT.

I am sure there were many other habits (good and bad) that I picked up from my mom.

Wisdom Keys:

1) Good habits must be highlighted, affirmed and reaffirmed.

2) Bad habits must highlighted, addressed and resolved.

Habits (good or bad) can stop us from advancing into the future.

Especially when the habits become our place of safety.

I hate being in group texts!!!

I hate being in group texts!!!

Why?????

Because I’ve had bad experiences with group texting in the past.

Or…..

My INTERPRETATION of the past experience was self-centered therefore I complained about being in the group text with doing something about it…

Leaving a bad taste in my mouth 👄.

Oftentimes we cheat ourselves out of the opportunity to learn about ourselves because we interpret our present experience solely through an emotional filter.

We usually don’t want to be bothered with the experience and the people connected to the experience when we rely solely upon an emotional filter.

I don’t throw my phone away because I had a bad experience…

I don’t stop texting or receiving texts because I had a bad experience in a group text…

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

I LOVE FRUIT!

I love fruit!

I absolutely luvvvvvvvvvvvvv…… fruit salad from Jewel Osco.

One morning I’m on my way to pick up my dish, I get in the store….

Grab my fruit salad off the shelf only to realized that…..

I LEFT MY WALLET AT HOME!!!!

My first thought was….I am not coming all the way back to Jewel just to get this fruit!

Afterwards…. I thought:

– I CAN’T BELIEVE I LEFT MY WALLET AT HOME!!!

– I CAN’T BELIEVE I LEFT MY WALLET AT HOME!!!!

– I CAN’T BELIEVE I LEFT MY WALLET AT HOME!!!!

Eventually I let go of the thought because I couldn’t afford to hold on to something that was outside of my control.

Neither can you.

That’s My Friend…

The label of “friend” carries a heavy connotation. When we were little, many of our classmates were given the label of “friend” in a day.

This thought and experience followed us into our adulthood.

We associate the word, “friend” with loyalty, and this influences the decisions we make in our daily lives.

Everyone we encounter is not our friend, some of these people are and will remain as associates.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

Who Are You?

From the mid to late 2000s, I served the Chicagoland area as a real estate agent. To this day, I still get people asking me, “You still do real estate?” Being a real estate agent is what people know about me from the past.

What we define, we confine.

Do not allow people to define you by what they know about you from the past, introduce them to who you are.

My introduction to who I am:

Hello….

My name is Mr. Cage and I am a teacher who helps people advance into the future through the discovery of their true identities.

Who are you?

Back To Start…

Relationships can be HARD……

Especially when one partner continuously blames the other partner when things are going smooth.

He said this to me so I said this to him….
She said this to me so I said this to her…

He did this to me so I did this to him….
She did this to me so I did this to her…

Stop It!

You are responsible for your behavior…
He is responsible for his behavior…

You are responsible for your behavior…
She is responsible for her behavior…

If you choose to justify dysfunctional behavior with more dysfunction…

You will always go back to START.

GAME OVER.

Task-Oriented vs. Valued-Based

Many…. Many…. Many…

Individuals have TASK–ORIENTED resumes and not VALUE-BASED resumes.

You may be thinking, “Mr. Cage….What’s the difference?”

Or…

“Which one is better than the other?”

Well…..

TASK–ORIENTED resumes tell us what you did at the company.

Example: Mr. Cage taught career preparation classes.

VALUE-BASED resumes tells us what you did at the company, how you did it and the end result of what you did and how what you did benefited the company short or long term.

Example: Mr. Cage taught career preparation classes utilizing transformational training methods increasing the likelihood of employee retention and advancement.

My question to you is, “Which example is more attractive to employers?”
