“Traditional lines are drawn in the sand, but foundational lines are drawn in concrete.” – Marcus Cage
Key#1 : No individual actually “Works” eight hours a day. We would have to be involved in some form of organizational activity every second, minute and hour which is unrealistic. However, investing one to three hours in producing a work is not.
Key#2: Never attached your identity to a position because every and any position is subject to change.
Key# 3: Do not allow the routine of daily tasks and activities to seperate you from purpose. Seperate yourself from past, TRADITIONAL thinking concerning your job. This is your assignment.
Dollars Per Hour…
The expression “Dollars Per Hour” serves as an ORGANIZATIONAL GUIDELINE for budgeting and accounting purposes. It is not to be perceived as a limitation in relation to you, the position (as an employee) you hold or the functions associated with the position. The cliche’ “Dollars Per Hour” does not represent how much an individual is worth nor is it symbolic of a person’s value. It reaffirms a “WORKMAN’S MENTALITY” whereas we are focused on doing and not becoming. In this paradigm we view our daily activities and duties as TASKS instead of responsibilities which causes us to respond incorrectly.
Dollars Per Hour says, “If you are not physically present at your workplace then you cannot earn wages.” This thought motivates many to pursue the option of OVERTIME.
OVERTIME (per se’) occurs after the traditional guidleline of the eight hour work day has been surpassed. This is a guideline that has become a MIND-SET and has become a monument of Amer- I CAN Culture. This is the reason why the “Salary Option” is advantegeous for an organization. An employees cannot go beyond a “SALARY CAP” when she or he is providing services (ONLY) in relation to the position and function. We must extend ourselves pass this limitation to progess in the completion of our assignments.
Eight hours…
The eight-hour work day is a traditional norm accepted by society as the status quo. If we shortened the “Work” day we would be forced to become more PRODUCTIVE, and less BUSY! We must go to the WORKPLACE with the MIND-SET of PRODUCING QUALITY PRODUCTS, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES.
Exceeding Expectations…
Dollars Per Hour tells the employee how much is available in the budget to distribute in exchange for the minimum expectations that has been determined for a specific position and the functions that are attached to that position.
Minimum expectations… OR JUST ENOUGH!
This is the reason why we must perfect our service (SERVICE)….
We must cultivate the gift (that is not ours) that is on the inside of us to result in a PRODUCT.
WE MUST BECOME PRODUCT DEVELOPERS!
We must exceed the expectations and goals set forth bythe organization to depict a “COMPANY” that is and has the ability to remain profitable (to its community) during any economical climate.
Goals produce focus, dreams produce power.
Lastly…
Dollars Per Hour is based upon time, not VALUE.
This can only measure productivity when it is used in a manufacturing (ASSEMBLY-LINE) or warehousing capacity.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
